In the past, civilizations like the Nubian (Cush), Ghanaian (west Sahara) and Egyptian (Kemet) nurtured in its bosoms some of the greatest minds, religions and nations of recorded history, Judaism and in turn Christianity and Islam, scholars of the University at Timbuktu, the Greek and Roman Empires, Picasso and even Rhythm and Blues have all been inspired in some aspect by African culture and art.
